Did Somebody Say Drama?

After weeks of writing and classes of practice on 29th of January all TYs from st.wolstans and 3 anxious English teacher got on buses filled with random props and traveled to Mullingar to take part in the briery gap drama competition in the Muillingar Art Centre.

The day started with MS. Ward, Alison and myself dragging the high table and chair from room 33 down to the bus. To be honest it was a lot easier than expected but we sure did get some weird looks as the three of us pushed it into the lift and then just abandoned it in reception. After that we went to the hall and the role was called …. Surprise surprise I think we had full attendance for once!!! I guess I spoke to soon when I said “everything is going to go smoothly” when I said this everything was ok, the whole team was in, we had the table and chair, all the makeup and costume were on the bus but at this moment in time table wasn’t on the bus and when we had to put it on we failed miserably! First we almost put it on the wrong bus and then we could lift it to get it so the bus driver had to do it. DEAR READER, DON’T WORRY IT GOT ONTO THE BUS AND ARRIVED TO THE RIGHT PLACE! Next thing we knew we were all sitting in the changing rooms doing our makeup and getting ready to perform (we didn’t go into the wrong rooms because we didn’t know where we were going if that’s what you are thinking)

Our school brought all they had to the stage, we had everything and anything. We showed the judge a mad girl snapping her "so called" best friends neck and thought him about the true harsh reality of child abuse also aimed for tears as a girl died in her mother’s arms from cancer and went back in time to the era of William Shakespeare.
Within seconds lights were up and it all started with “*bang, bang, bang* SILENCE IN THE COURT ROOM, Ruth Gilbert you are on trial for the murder of Kate Whitmore” It was over before we knew it and second later we were off the stage getting feedback and then running to McDonnells for some well deserved food! It all went well but sadly our drama experience is over as we didn’t get through to the next stage.

Im just a teenage girl who hates the thought of growing up but im doing it with a smile on my face and a positive attitude. I hope you liked reading about my day full of drama! – Miss.Galligan! x
