Is everyone really a winner?
It’s not all about winning, what counts is taking part and
having fun! We've all heard that at some stage of our life. I wonder is it
different when you are older and put 10 times more work into winning what do
you think? For example the 2015 Oscars are on tonight the 22nd of February and
this evening there will be happy and sad faces but at the end of the day
everyone is a winner ... i think not! Imagine putting sweat blood and tears
into something and being told "not good enough" that's clearly
discouraging right? I'm not saying getting to the Oscars and not winning isn't
amazing it really is a great achievement but being so close to winning first
place in a race and setting a new record but being one second off betting the
record. Yes you achieved something (1st place) but failed at the same time.
That is what i think it’s like being nominated for an Oscar. Ok i know losing
isn't the end of the world but in such a big competition it would be a shame.
At 11.30 on sky movies and sky live the Oscars will be
playing and every person watching will be supporting either an actor or an
actress something else like a movie or singer but fandoms (is that a real word?
well it is in our generation so ill use it!) all across the world will be
disappointed and overwhelmed.
There are several movies for an Oscar under the category
"best picture" they are American Sniper, Birdman or (The Unexpected
Virtue of Ignorance), Boyhood, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Imitation Game,
Selma, The Theory of Everything and whiplash. Tonight one will be named the
best picture of 2015 and everybody who took part in the other movies will
snobbishly congratulate the cast and team.
Want me say who i want to win? Well i cant because I’ve only
seen whiplash and yes i loved the story line and thought it was an amazing
movie but I’ve heard some great things about all the movies up for the award so
i believe it’s an even playing field.
Whiplash is about a first year music student, Andrew Neiman
(Miles teller) who wins a seat on a jazz band. He sits behind the drums seeking
respect from the teacher, Fletcher (J.K. Simmons) that teaches the band using
fear and intimidation to push them to be pure perfection. The story line kicks
off when Fletcher is shown to be abusive toward his students, mocking and
insulting them! It all begins when he hurls a chair at Andrew for not keeping
his tempo, and humiliates him in front of the class.
